About

A bit about my background:

I'm a Brazilian-American CG artist based in Los Angeles, California. As an experienced graphic and fashion designer, in 2017 I decided to broaden my horizons and pursue a 3D career by enrolling at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation in Hollywood.

After graduating from the Digital Production program at Gnomon in 2021, where I developed broad 3D skills, I found my passion in modeling and texturing environments for games. Producing real-time artwork is what pushes me closer to what I am passionate about in CG; bringing imagination and fantasy to life. I love to delve into technical knowledge such as tech art, non-destructive workflows, photogrammetry, and experimenting with new technologies during the creation process also, hence adding a more unique flavor to the environments I like to create.

Over the past decade, I've been researching worldwide warrior culture, weaponry, armory, architecture, cultural aesthetics, philology, and semiology to produce content with compelling narratives. As a real-life sword fighter, teacher, and author about this theme myself, the subject matter of historical warfare, high fantasy, heroes, and mythology encompass a big scope of my interests and pathos in the arts.

At the culmination of my previous journey in the design industry, before fully embarking on 3D, I wrote a book titled "Samurai Aesthetics". An academic thesis that evolved into a general public book structured on the Gestalt Theory. In the book, I analyzed and compared, semiologically; the armors, architecture, cultural arts, crafts, and aesthetics of feudal Japanese warriors between the IX and XIX centuries. I extracted a visual language that is applied to a 21st-century fashion collection and other forms of graphic design in its later chapters. It is concluded by extending it to the aesthetics of any other visual artistic field, such as 3D art.

In 2022, I decided to deepen even further my passion for environment art and 3D knowledge by traveling to distant and exotic parts of the world to capture photogrammetry imagery of unique details. I went from the northern Tundra in Siberia to the austral Patagonian desert in Argentina, reaching the border of Antarctica while searching for unique aesthetic elements to incorporate into my work.

As a disciplined warrior by habit and investigative by nature, I always invest the same level of energy and scrutiny when approaching the research and development of my artwork to achieve distinct and more detailed results in 3D.
